What People in Fort Collins Say About Total Ryu Jiujitsu
As a female in my mid-twenties without any experience in martial arts, training in self-defense or fighting in general (except for maybe with my brother), dipping my toes into jiu jistu was intimidating at first. Fortunately, the staff and participants at total ryu welcome you into the community with open arms. As foreign and strange as some of the moves were to me a first, they have created a safe place to make mistakes, learn and grow. I look forward to class every week to continue learning useful/practical/applicable skills at my own pace – not to mention how empowering it feels (like a total badass) and it is SO fun!

I have been going to Total Ryu for over 3 years now. It is definitely one of the best experiences I have ever had. It is very apparent from the moment you come in that this is a positive nurturing environment. The emphasis is on learning, and on positive aspects of being a respectful, nurturing member of society. I have seen people of all athletic and learning abilities be successful at Total Ryu. It is definitely not a McDojo, and you will get out of it everything you put into it.

Sensei Charles is a very practical and understanding teacher, who clearly enjoys sharing his knowledge, and its real world applications, with his students. I greatly enjoy class every week.

I’ve been training with Total Ryu for a few years now and they’ve helped me get stronger, more confident, and to have a lot of fun. I’ve learned a lot, and worked with some amazing people!

Three years ago I had little confidence and very little idea of how to protect myself, but now as a purple belt in Jujitsu I have the knowledge and experience to protect myself if I ever need. Total Ryu is a family owned business, but they have integrated a family environment into all their classes. I never pictured myself as a martial artists, but Charles and the team have made it a huge part of who I am!

From the moment we walked into Total Ryu we knew we were in a great place. Charles is not only a man of his word, he is smart, caring and a master at his craft. His wife and kids are awesome too. We would not hesitate to recommend Charles and Total Ryu!

Total Ryu Fort Collins is an amazing school for adult martial arts. It’s a welcoming environment, with everyone there wanting to share their knowledge of Jiu Jitsu. Charles is an excellent teacher and helps push us all to be a little better with each class. Can’t say enough great things about Total Ryu.
